The Ribble Valley Jazz & Blues Festival

This year will mark the 14th Ribble Valley Jazz & Blues Festival with an amazing line up of over 40 performances, on 18 stages, over 4 days (28th April-1st May). The Friday night will be opened by Saxophonist, composer and band leader, Jasmine Myra, with her Jazz-inspired music supported by Leeds Conservatoire Graduates Ben Haskins (Guitar) and George Hall (Drums) and Leeds-based musicians Jasper Green (keys) and Sam Quintana (Double Bass), as well as recent additions Arran Kent (Flute/Bass Clarinet), Matt Cliff (Flute/Alto Sax) and Rachel Gladwin (Harpist).

On the Saturday night (AKA the party night!) we will be joined by TC & The Groove Family + Franz Von, a 10-piece collective using the power of music to celebrate the coming together of cultures and uniting communities. You can dance the night away with their mix of Afrobeat, Highlife, Jungle and Breakbeats. Bermudian producer and multi-percussionist Obeka will close the night at 10pm in the Old School Rooms with Afro-Latin and European Dance Music.

We have two main concerts on the Sunday including Sax player Aaron Liddard, who has backed artists such as Prince, Amy Winehouse and Beverley Knight, and will then be followed by Nearly Dan bringing the music of Steely Dan to The Grand with tunes such as Peg, Deacon Blues and Do it Again. To close off the Jazz & Blues extravaganza, on the Monday we will have The Swing City Big Band performing songs from all 27 bond movies including Adele’s Skyfall, Shirley Bassey’s Diamonds are Forever and Paul McCartney’s Live and Let Die.
