Be My Band

Be My Band

Be My Band (BMB) is an inclusive music project aimed to help new and experienced musicians in the Ribble Valley and surrounding areas to improve their musical confidence and skills whilst playing in a band.

BMB is a safe space to experiment, learn and have fun with our musical leader and genius, Marc Winstanley.

We encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in the programme, bring their own spin on music and create a band they are proud of.

We cater for all musical backgrounds and instruments, including: guitar, bass, vocals, trumpet, violin, drums, keyboard

Across genres such as: rock, jazz, alternative, blues, pop, folk, soul

The programme runs one specialist class each term in topics including stage presence, improvisation, branding, creating a music video and studio recording.

Twice a year we will host a ‘Reverb’ music event where all the bands will be able to perform a gig on stage at The Grand. Other opportunities can include recording in our studio, creating a music video and appearing on the radio.

BMB runs from The Grand venue every Monday & Tuesday (excluding half terms) with a range of class times to book on to with our project co-ordinator Emily.

"Be My Band has helped me to learn how to play my guitar better and to not be afraid to try new things and got me involved in being in a band and working with my bandmates." - Be My Band Pupil

"My daughter has only just started with the Be My Band project and looks forward to it every single Monday.  Being able to play with a band has meant she has become more confident with her ability and this has had a massive impact on her skill and performance levels which has, in turn, helped her to do well in her grade exams for Drums". - Be My Band Parent

"We’ve been massive fans of Be My Band project since the very first session. It’s the only activity that our kids always look forward to every week, even after 5 years. Marc and the whole team at The Grand have been fantastic and always strike the perfect balance in order to encourage and get the best from everyone involved whilst keeping it cool, fun and engaging.  We’ve experienced a rapid progression from enthusiastic budding musicians to where we are now watching our kids perform at major music festivals and stand alone gigs." - Parents of members of Landslide and Northern sports club.

"Both our girls are part of be my band - they love it and we love it!!! It is such an incredible opportunity for them and has such a positive affect on their confidence!! We are hugely grateful to the team, and cannot commend Marc highly enough - his limitless patience and generous investment in our girls is a beautiful thing!!!" - Be My Band Parent

What a fantastic idea is Be my Band not only does it encourage a love of music but also a taste of making it themselves, a great project keep up the good work. 5 ***** - Be My Band Grandparent.
