Vintage Swing Thing

Saturday 20 April 2024

Arthur Geldard presents an evening of superb entertainment with his band Vintage Swing Thing, plus support from Duckworth & Duprez.

Following a highly successful night at The Grand in 2022, Arthur will be back to swing the house down, accompanied by some special guests.

Hailing from Clitheroe, Arthur is a fan favourite around the Ribble Valley, especially after his successful international ‘Sunday Singalong’ sessions during lockdown. His timeless smooth voice puts a fresh take on old classics and reimagines modern tunes with great poise and authenticity.

Vintage Swing Thing, a dynamic and musically virtuosic 7-piece are led by their MD Joshua Goodey and forms the backdrop of the show, performing a mixture of 20s inspired modern classics and swing songbook numbers of yesteryear. With a repertoire of original arrangements that wouldn’t look out of place at Ronnie Scott’s, VST’s all-swinging all-dancing rhythm section will get you shaking your tail feather.

The band also features female co-lead singer Adee Lifshitz, an RNCM graduate known for her sensational tone and delivery.

Get ready for a night full of the good old classics, reworked modern classics and much more.

This event is a standing event with limited unreserved seating, to allow for a large dance floor for all your best swing dance moves.

Support for Vintage Swing Thing comes in form of modern flamenco guitar outfit; Duckworth & Duprez.

Mark Duckworth and Ted Duprez are a Flamenco-inspired jazz duo, fusing raw Rumba vibes with romance and improvisational prowess, conjuring up some modern Spanish guitar wizardry. Over the past 24 months, the duo have performed over 2000 hours together in venues spanning from Courchevel in the French Alps, to the dive bars of Glasgow. With 2024 seeing the duo travelling to The Blue Note in Dresden, Germany and invitations to street festivals in Andalusia, Spain, they are quickly becoming recognised as a world class outfit, reinvigorating the love of Spanish guitar for some and inspiring a new found love of the instrument in others.
