ABOUT THE GRAND:
The Grand at Clitheroe is a unique multimedia, live music and arts venue. Providing a creative and inspirational experience through holistic engagement of the arts. Committed to the social, spiritual, cultural, educational and emotional development needs of young people and the broader community.
The Grand Venue and our offices are located in the centre of Clitheroe and comprises a large auditorium (capacity: 400), cafe bar area, professional recording studios and rehearsal rooms. The Grand also operates Clitheroe Skate Park, located in the Castle Grounds.
We engage our community through an eclectic programme of live events, regular creative classes, creative projects, creative learning projects and outreach initiatives alongside other providers within the local community, including schools, churches and other various arts organisations.
ROLE:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Venue Technical Assistant to support the technical upkeep and presentation of our venue. This freelance role involves a range of weekly and ad-hoc tasks focused on equipment management, space tidiness, and occasional tech support. The ideal candidate will be reliable, organised, and comfortable working independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Weekly Tasks (Estimated Time Commitment)
- Equipment Stock-Takes: Weekly audit of all technical gear; consolidate misplaced items and log any missing equipment.
- Greenroom Tidy: Organise XLRs, microphones, and stands; clear rubbish; vacuum/mop if necessary; perform basic equipment checks.
- Front of House Tidy: Tidy cables, clean consoles, and report technical issues.
- Stage and Side Stage Tidy: Clear rubbish, tidy cables, mop/vacuum, and remove tape from stage floor.
- Choir Setup: Set up piano, mic, chairs and prepare the café area.
- Live Room Tidying and Setups: General tidying, cable coiling, mic returns, and cleaning.
Potential Additional Duties (Ad Hoc – As Needed)
- Event Cover / Tech Assistance: Supporting live sound or studio events.
- Studio Support: Tidying, setting up, or assisting in sessions.
- Maintenance Tasks: Equipment troubleshooting and venue/studio upkeep.
- General Cover: Stand-in duties during staff absence.
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree level qualification in a relevant technical subject
Technical knowledge of sound equipment (XLRs, mics, stands)
Basic maintenance and troubleshooting ability
Comfortable with manual tasks (lifting chairs, cleaning, etc.)
Flexibility to take on short-notice or scheduled additional tasks
The ability to operate in a free-lance capacity
Basic Disclosure Barring System (DBS) Check
