Ripple Effect with Katie Nicholas, British Birds, Phil Johari & Holden

Saturday 1 June 2024

Ripple Effect is a brand new live music event hosted at The Grand in Clitheroe in partnership with Actual Music. Its focus is to shine a light on Lancashire’s most exciting up and coming musical acts and help grow our incredible music scene. Both nights will be presented by William Wolstenholme from BBC Introducing.

Showcasing a range of musical styles, Ripple Effect gives a platform to hidden gems lying within our community. From punchy, anthemic indie bands, to intimate and lyrical singer-songwriters, we’re proudly showing off some of the finest talent around.

Catch eight amazing artists across two nights at one of the best live music venues in the northwest. When someone asks you how you discovered your favourite acts, you can tell them – “Ripple Effect.”

The first event is on 25th May, you can book tickets here.

Katie Nicholas

Katie Nicholas is a singer/songwriter born in Ormskirk, Lancashire. Leaving home at 18 to become an apprentice designer in London, she quickly found herself distracted and producing music videos for her songs and sharing them online. She soon captured the attention of music fans and industry folk alike with her intricate cross-picking, witty lyricism and enigmatic presence on stage.

British Birds

Chorley-based British Birds is a musical collaboration with a DIY ethic and nostalgic charm; supported by BBC introducing North-West, they combine catchy hooks, lullaby-like melody and sobering melancholy. Ex members of Cactus Knife, Mums and Big Pixie bring timeless psych-rock with hints of Neutral Milk Hotel, The Vaselines and Ty Segall.

Phil Johari

From the North of England, singer, songwriter and guitarist Phil Johari uses his music to challenge and ask important questions about life. Being an engineer turned professional session musician, Johari has followed his heart and found his true voice through years of determined self-discovery. His songs speak the human language, full of poignant thoughts and deep meaning combined with groove and rich harmony.

HOLDEN

HOLDEN is a producer duo consisting of identical twins Joe & Alex Holden. Having toured the globe with the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Tom Misch, Hot Milk, Rachel Chinouriri and more, the twins bring forth their own eponymously titled project, ‘Holden’, producing and playing every instrument themselves out of hotel rooms, tour buses, dining room tables and attics.
