Venue: Clitheroe United Reformed Church, Castle Gate, Clitheroe BB7 1AZ
This Event comprises of two workshops and a public performance.
A trombone-heavy 8 piece band - the Living Story Music Ensemble, featuring Project Leader Chris Bridges, presents a set of songs inspired by Bulgakov’s depiction of the devil’s May Ball in his novel 'The Master and Margarita'.
Chris’s music draws on the roots of jazz and blues. His songs will have you up and dancing, albeit with moments of chaos and darkness. At given points in the performance, in various songs, the trombone trio will be swelled by a huge trombone choir, comprising trombone beginners and experienced players. The sheer noise will make you join in the march of this macabre parade! This event includes the option of taking part in a workshop as well as the public performance (same ticket price for participant or spectator) - plastic 'p-bones' available for children.
Are you a trombonist, attracted by the spectacular trombone event in RV Jazz Festival 2019? Would you like to join/perform in the 3.00pm Trombone Spectacular performance of "The Midnight Parade"? Then sign up for one or both of our trombone workshops. We will be learning parts for the show, as well as practicing jazz improvisation alongside the amazing musicians of the Living Story Music Ensemble.
1.00pm - For beginner/inexperienced trombonists If you have never played a trombone and would like to join in with this performance, then come along to the first workshop at 1pm, when we will get you playing your first notes on a pBone (special plastic trombone!). You can then stay for the second workshop to practice your parts for the show, as well as having a go at improvising. Plastic pBone trombones provided if needed!
2.00pm - For experienced trombone trombonists. We will be working on ideas for jazz improvisation, as well as learning and practicing the parts for the 3pm show.
Band Line-up: Tom Davies (vocals); Chris Bridges/Biff Roxbury/Ellie Whitley - (Trombones); Henry Botham (Piano); Dave Tompkins (Bass); Keith Phillips - (Guitar); Hugh Lawrence (Drums).
