Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues Club present international touring band, Tria Lingvo, on Friday, October 12th, at their new home, Clitheroe Cricket Club.
A notable German trio, based in Cologne, with special guest guitarist Mike Walker, bring a musical encounter of the highest order at he start of a new UK tour. This award-winning trio, combined with Walker's guitar mastery, will present a repertoire of new quartet music on a tour which has been supported by Arts Council England.
Tria Lingvo, winners of the 2014 New German Jazzprize, offer an innovative and creative approach to the traditional trio format. The band is at home exploring the fascinating ground between modern jazz, energy-laden improvisation and ethnic music. It is highly respected on their home scene, having performed with the likes of Dominique Pifarely, Zoltan Lantos and Ramesh Shotham at festivals such as Leverkusener Jazztage, Enjoy Jazz Festival, and Vive le Jazz.
Mike Walker is one of the most prolific UK musicians of his generation and has built a distinguished performing, composing and teaching career in the UK and Europe for almost 40 years.
International touring and some highly recognised collaborations have been features of a distinguished career. He has appeared at Ribble Valley Jazz Festivals with Stuart McCallum and as part of Norma Winstone's Printmakers outfit.
