Kyla Brox is one of the finest UK blues and soul singers of her generation. She will no doubt attract a large audience for her debut gig with the Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues club at their new venue of Clitheroe Cricket Club.
Appearing in duo format with guitarist and life partner Danny Blomeley, a Kyla Brox duo show encourages two distinct Kylas to come to the fore - the salty blues mama in line from Bessie Smith, and the tender soul singer who sets her hopes and fears in song. She never flinches from emotional reality in either situation.
The duo format assigns a prominent role for songwriting partner Danny Blomeley whose virtuoso guitar-work has earned Danny a following in his own right. Whether your favourite style is jazz or blues, this gig with Kyla and Danny is one for the diary. Early ticket bookings are more cost effective too!
The daughter of blues singer Victor Brox, Kyla started singing on-stage at the age of 12 and has several albums to her name, including the band triumph 'Coming Home' (2004) and sensitive 'Grey Sky Blue' (2009). Kyla first sang with Victor onstage at the Band on the Wall in Manchester in 1992. She joined his regular touring group the following year. The core of the Kyla Brox Band go back to this unit, nominally The Victor Brox Blues Train.
Booking tickets in advance is advisable.
