In association with your MC for the evening, Mr Tony Vino, The Grand is delighted and hopeful to bring this post-lockdown line-up of comics together for a summer session.
These two headlining acts - Patrick Monahan and Sophie Willan - are genuinely right at the forefront of the UK comedy circuit at the present time.
Patrick Monahan - Classy
International multi award winning stand up is back with another hour of comedy gold.
Born in Iran, raised in a caravan, Monahan reflects on his life today, living with his middle class private school educated girlfriend. Its like the butler dating the Lady of the house, a modern day Byker Grove meets Downton Abbey.
Patrick’s new show looks at life today for couples who come from polar opposite backgrounds, and the difficulties that arise in everyday simple things like choosing a colour for the new kitchen or how to agree on what new radiators to get, and how these simple things are more complicated than the ‘Iran USA’ crisis.
The Scotsman 2019 “he is an honest to goodness storyteller and a terrific comic. His characterisations are a joy and his overwhelming warmth make this a truly delightful hour.”
As seen on every TV channel in the UK over the last decade.
Sharp, eccentric and provocative – Willan has fast become one of the most exciting rising stars in British Comedy.
This multi-award winning comedian has a knack for intertwining personal and political narrative effortlessly. Her work is complex, thoughtful and meticulously structured – but above all, she is perpetually funny, completely original and full of blunt, Bolton charm.
Sophie's first television sitcom, Alma's Not Normal, premiered for BBC Two on Tuesday, April 7th this year and follows her hugely acclaimed BBC Radio 4 Series 'Sophie Willan's Guide to Normality'. You can also hear her dulcet tones on Channel 4 as the much-loved voice of The Circle.
Willan has also appeared on As Yet Untitled (Dave), Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Up Late With Rylan (Channel 5), Still Open All Hours (BBC One), Click And Collect (BBC One), Class Dismissed (BBC One), The One Show (BBC One) and The Tez O Clock Show (Channel 4).
