An Evening with Graeme Obree

An Evening with Graeme Obree, the man famous for breaking both convention and the hour record comes to The Grand Venue in Clitheroe.
 
Graeme broke the 1 hour record twice in 1993 (51.596Km) & 1994 (52.713Km) and he was twice world 4000m pursuit champion. What makes this story more interesting is Graeme did this off his own back, self funded, trained and competed as an amateur and didn’t have the huge backing of other athletes at the time. He built his bike, “Old Faithful” by hand likening his position to that of a skier going downhill rather than a conventional cycling position. Graeme has since taken up the land speed challenge at Battle Mountain, Nevada and managed a top speed for a two wheeled bike in the prone (lying face down) position.
 

Graeme will be talking about his amazing career and share stories in the beautiful intimate surroundings of The Grand Venue, the same venue that hosted Hans Rey in March.
