Cloudspotting Music and Arts festival 2017
July 28-30, 2017
"A classic combination of music, lovely food and drink, family and arts activities in a stunning location. It’s good value, and regulars applaud its non-commercial feel.”
“Cloudspotting was a unique experience in a unique location, and a refreshing change from some of the larger festivals.”
Nick Lakin (Lancaster Guardian)
“There are people saying that there are too many music festivals these days. However, why should there only be a few major regional events, with the accompanying big crowds, travel chaos and heavy commercialisation? Why not have smaller events that we can all easily get to, which are more comfortable all round, can give more exposure to local bands and which still attract big names? The Cloudspotting Music and Arts Festival seems to fulfil this role admirably.”
John Bentley (Gig Junkies)
"Most festivals profess to be family friendly these days, so it can be difficult to figure out which ones actually are. Some stick a bouncy castle next to the bar so parents can drink in peace, others have brilliant arts and entertainment programmes for little revellers running alongside their musical line-up. Cloudspotting, refreshingly, is one of the latter."
Antonia Charlesworth (Big Issue North)
Tier 1 Tickets now available
Cloudspotting Music and Arts Festival is back on the weekend of July 28-30 at Gisburn Forest, with the guarantee of a top-notch music line-up, a creative family arts programme and a menu of superb eats and drinks from the best North West producers and suppliers.
Cloudspotting is unlike any other festival. The beauty is in its intimacy. Located deep in the Forest of Bowland AONB, Cloudspotting offers a wonderful escape in a totally exclusive back-to-nature experience shared with a few hundred like-minded souls.
The festival has built its reputation on a varied, cutting-edge live music programme, embracing a rich melting pot of sounds and genres, from more acoustic, folky acts to high voltage rock bands, dub reggae, pop and electronica.
This eclecticism is reflected in the band's headliners. Last year's audience favourites Henge have been elevated to the main stage on Friday night, while world champion DMC turntablist DJ Woody, plays live on the Lawn Stage. The awesome Moulettes also make their first Cloudspotting on the Friday evening with more live sets from Sunstack Jones, The Big Eyes Family Players, Indigo Rose and Nag Champa.
Saturday night headliner Baloji is something of an northern festival exclusive - his only other UK appearance being at Latitude and the upcoming BBC 6Music Festival in Glasgow. Baloji is a Congoleses poet, composer, lyricist and performer. His music stands at the crossroads of African music, rap music, Afro American Music, hip-hop culture and the electronic culture that has its roots in Belgium where Baloji grew up. He will be performing with his band L'Orchestre de la Katuba. He will be supported by Jeramiah Ferrari, who have toured with The Wailers this year. Other acts playing on Saturday include The Wave Pictures, Gulp, All Hail Hyena, Horsebeach, Alpha Male Tea Party , Baxter Rhodes Band and Northern Sports Club.
Sunday is traditionally a more chilled out programme to finish off the weekend. Headliner This is the Kit will be promoting their new album out in the summer. Other confirmed acts are US singer Jesca Hoop, Hannah Peel, The Breath, Holly Macve, Harp and a Monkey, Kirk McElhinney, Irish trad band Drop The Floor and The Bramble Napkins.
It’s a festival where you are so close to the action you are always involved and with the range of arts and cultural activities on offer, there’s ample opportunity to try new things, or simple relax and soak up the entertainment.
The Grand is proud to partner Cloudspotting and will this year provide the principle Box Office for the Festival.
